Abstract

The article investigates the application of Industry 4.0 and information technologies in port facilities in Latin America. A mixed study was developed, selecting the ports of Colon, Santos and Cartagena, producing companies, international transport companies and customs agencies; then a literature review was conducted including bibliometric techniques, through the Scopus database, 5 variables are analyzed: monitoring processes, equipment and machinery, systems integration, robotics and other technologies and through a semi-structured instrument applied to the representatives of the companies, who are those who understand the reality of international trade operations in the ports mentioned above. Thus, the trends that mark future studies in the port area are: New applications of industries 4.0 in port operations, port sustainability from the use of new technologies, implementation of renewable energies in ports, sources of funding for port digitalization.
