The rural context is a scenario marked by its own specificities, inherent to the ways of living and producing of its people. Historically, these are scenarios marked by popular clashes, social disparities and inequities in health. The population that re(exists) in these localities faces, on a daily basis, individual, social and programmatic vulnerabilities.
In the current public health emergency caused by SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, an acute viral disease with high dissemination power and with repercussion in several global realities, we are faced with the following concern: will health systems, which in many realities already face a systematic collapse, be able to absorb the health demands of rural and remote populations caused by COVID-19?
