Aumentando o acesso ao atendimento integral para fissura labial e/ou palatina na Colômbia

Resumo

Highlights

  • As fissuras labiopalatinas são as malformações cranianas congênitas mais comuns, com prevalência na Colômbia de 3,27 por 10.000 habitantes.
  • O cuidado integral da fissura labial e/ou palatina requer uma equipe multidisciplinar que atue de forma coordenada desde a gestação até a idade adulta.
  • Apesar da cobertura de seguro quase universal na Colômbia, as pessoas nas zonas rurais e com estatuto socioeconómico mais baixo enfrentam dificuldades no acesso a cuidados abrangentes para a doença.
  • A Fundación Operación Sonrisa desenvolveu estratégias para melhorar o acesso ao tratamento integral através de programas cirúrgicos e fortalecer as capacidades locais.

As fissuras labiopalatinas são as malformações cranianas congênitas mais comuns. Ocorrem em aproximadamente 1,7 em cada 1.000 nascidos vivos1. Embora seja provável que haja subnotificação, estima-se que na Colômbia a prevalência desta condição corresponda a 3,27 em cada 10.000 habitantes2.

O cuidado integral dessas malformações requer múltiplas intervenções por equipe multidisciplinar especializada desde a gestação até a idade adulta3-6. Idealmente, esses serviços deveriam ser organizados em torno das necessidades do paciente, prestados por meio de uma equipe interdisciplinar de especialistas, localizados em um único local e comunicando-se diretamente entre si para a tomada de decisões conjuntas6.
